Pulwama, May 19,2026-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday flagged off a padyatra in Pulwama as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, aimed at spreading awareness against drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free society among youth.
The anti-drug awareness march witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, volunteers, officials, youth groups and members of civil society, who joined hands to strengthen the campaign against substance abuse in the Valley. Carrying banners and placards with anti-drug messages, participants marched through key areas of Pulwama, raising slogans promoting awareness and social responsibility.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said that drug abuse poses a serious threat to society and emphasized the need for collective efforts from families, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies and the community to eradicate the menace. He stressed that the administration is committed to protecting the younger generation from narcotics through awareness campaigns, counselling programmes and strict action against drug peddlers.
The Lt Governor appreciated the active involvement of youth and educational institutions in the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and urged students to become ambassadors of change by spreading awareness in their communities. He said that building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir requires public participation and continuous social awareness initiatives.
Officials said the padyatra was organised as part of a larger anti-drug campaign being carried out across Jammu and Kashmir to educate people about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage rehabilitation and prevention efforts.
The Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan has been witnessing widespread participation across districts, with awareness drives, seminars, sports activities and community outreach programmes being conducted regularly to combat drug addiction and safeguard the future of youth.
