Srinagar, November 1,2025 -Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha delivered the keynote address at an International Seminar on Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza, held at the University of Kashmir. The seminar brought together renowned literary figures from India and abroad to celebrate the enduring legacy of one of India’s most profound writers.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor described Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza as “one of the greatest writers of his time, who earned a hallowed name in India’s literary history.” He said that Raza’s work reflected India’s spiritual and cultural depth, promoting interconnectedness, inclusivity, and peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.
“Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza was deeply rooted in the spiritual and cultural traditions of our nation. He always believed in shared humanity that transcended individual differences,” LG Sinha said, noting that his writings remain a beacon of light for younger generations.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that India’s cultural heritage has the power to build a strong national identity, foster resilience, and inspire economic growth through unity and wisdom.
“Our cultural heritage can foster a collective identity and solidarity among diverse groups. We must learn from the past to gain self-confidence and let the wisdom of our history guide us toward future opportunities for growth and innovation,” he remarked.
Highlighting the vision of Viksit Bharat , LG Sinha said that holistic development lies in blending tradition with technology.
“For holistic development, we must combine our traditional knowledge with modern advancements to ensure equal opportunities for all. Our sole aim is to foster peace and prosperity to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat,” he added.
He further expressed confidence that Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza’s rich legacy will continue to guide society toward progress and social cohesion by fostering shared identity and mutual respect.
The inaugural session witnessed the presence of Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir; Prof. Naveen Chandra Lohani, Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Open University; Shri Sameer Anjaan, noted film lyricist; Shri Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary, Department of Culture; Shri Asif Azmi, Director IDEA Communications and Convenor of the Seminar; Prof. Pervez Ahmed, Dean Student Welfare, University of Kashmir; and several literary personalities, academicians, and students.
