LG Sinha, addressing the gathering, described Sardar Patel as the “Architect of National Unity” and an epitome of patriotism and integrity. “His unwavering commitment laid the foundation of a modern India,” Sinha said in his message. “Let us pledge to follow his ideals and uphold the spirit of unity, a common national identity, and brotherhood as a tribute to Sardar Patel.”Sinha emphasized the relevance of Patel’s principles in today’s context, calling upon every citizen to work with utmost dedication towards realizing the dream of Viksit Bharat (Developed India). “In the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, let us channel our energies into fostering self-reliance and innovation, ensuring that the light of unity guides us to a prosperous future,” he added.
The Lt Governor highlighted how Patel’s diplomatic foresight integrated over 560 princely states into the Indian Union post-independence, a feat that continues to inspire the nation’s journey towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The event aligns with nationwide celebrations for the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (1875-1950), whose birth anniversary is observed annually as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas since 2015. Across India, from the grand Run for Unity at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat – where Prime Minister Narendra Modi administered the oath – to local programs in schools and communities, tributes poured in honoring Patel’s role as the first Home Minister and unifier of modern India. In Jammu and Kashmir, similar initiatives, including preparatory reviews for unity runs, reflect the region’s active participation in this historic milestone. This year’s observance carries added significance under the theme Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, linking Patel’s integration efforts with contemporary goals of economic self-sufficiency and social cohesion.
LG Sinha’s call to action resonates deeply in J&K, where efforts towards peace, development, and unity remain paramount. As the nation reflects on Patel’s legacy, the Raj Bhawan ceremony serves as a poignant reminder that true progress stems from collective resolve. Officials at Raj Bhawan echoed Sinha’s sentiments, vowing to embody these values in their daily duties for a stronger, more unified India.
