Srinagar, May 21, 2025 – Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level Unified Headquarters meeting at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar on May 20, 2025, to review the Union Territory’s security situation and preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, scheduled from July 3 to August 9, 2025. The meeting, attended by top officials from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces , intelligence agencies, and civil administration, focused on strengthening security measures and enhancing administrative coordination in the region.
LG Manoj Sinha congratulated security forces for the success of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. He directed officials to intensify intelligence-led operations to dismantle terror networks and ensure the complete eradication of the terror ecosystem in J&K. Emphasising the need for robust security along the Line of Control (LoC) and international border, Sinha stressed enhanced measures for the Amarnath Yatra, particularly on the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, to ensure pilgrim safety. The meeting included detailed discussions on intelligence inputs, inter-agency coordination, and rapid response systems to address potential emergencies.
Key attendees included Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, GoC 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, GoC 16 Corps Lt Gen P K Mishra, GoC 9 Corps Lt Gen Rajan Sharawat, Air Vice Marshal Vikas Sharma, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, and CEO of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari. The LG’s directives underscored a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, aiming to restore lasting peace while ensuring seamless administrative support for residents and pilgrims.
The meeting also addressed rehabilitation plans for residents affected by recent cross-border shelling, with Sinha advocating for central aid and expedited bunker construction in border areas. This Unified Command meeting, the first since Operation Sindoor began on May 7, reflects the administration’s commitment to balancing security, public safety, and regional stability.
