LG Manoj Sinha leads Nasha Mukt Campaign in Baramulla

Baramulla, May 12,2026-Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Monday said that more than two lakh outreach programmes have been conducted across Jammu and Kashmir under the ongoing campaign against drug abuse to create awareness and build a drug-free society.

Addressing participants during the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan’ padyatra in Baramulla, the Lieutenant Governor said the anti-drug movement has evolved into a mass campaign with active participation from youth, educational institutions, civil society organizations, security forces, and local communities.

He emphasized that the fight against drug addiction requires a whole-of-society approach and collective responsibility to protect future generations from the menace of narcotics.

“Over two lakh outreach programmes have been organised across Jammu and Kashmir to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage youth to adopt healthy and productive lifestyles,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He highlighted that schools, colleges, sports institutions, villages, and urban communities are actively participating in awareness drives, rallies, seminars, sports events, and counselling programmes aimed at curbing substance abuse.

The Lieutenant Governor also urged parents, teachers, religious leaders, and community members to play an active role in identifying and guiding vulnerable youth towards positive activities, education, and skill development.

He said the administration is strengthening rehabilitation facilities, counselling services, and preventive mechanisms while continuing strict action against drug trafficking networks operating in the Union Territory.

Large numbers of students, youth volunteers, police personnel, government officials, and citizens participated in the padyatra, pledging support to the mission of making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.
