Pulwama , May 19, 2026 Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday led one of the largest public rallies in Jammu and Kashmir at Pulwama, reaffirming the administration’s resolve to eliminate the drug menace and dismantle the narco-terror network operating in the Union Territory.
Addressing the gathering during the anti-drug awareness campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, the Lieutenant Governor said the fight against drugs has become a people’s movement with overwhelming participation from youth, students, civil society groups, religious leaders and local communities.
He stated that the 100-day anti-drug campaign launched on April 11 has received massive public support across Jammu and Kashmir, strengthening the administration’s efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking.
Highlighting the achievements of the campaign, Manoj Sinha said more than 800 drug smugglers have been jailed while hundreds of properties linked to narcotics networks have been seized in a major crackdown against narco-terror elements.
“The government is committed to ending the drug scourge once and for all. Strict action against smugglers, awareness among youth and rehabilitation of affected individuals are being pursued simultaneously,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that drug addiction not only destroys lives and families but also fuels terrorism and criminal networks. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities in identifying and reporting drug peddlers.
The rally witnessed participation from thousands of people carrying placards and raising slogans against drug abuse, reflecting growing public support for a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
