LG Manoj Sinha launches anti-drug and narco-terrorism campaign in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 3, 2026- Manoj Sinha on Sunday addressed the launch of a major campaign against drug abuse and narco-terrorism in Srinagar, calling for a united and sustained effort to eliminate the menace from the Union Territory.

Speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the growing concern over rising drug addiction, particularly among the youth, and its dangerous links to narco-terrorism. He stressed that the illegal drug trade not only destroys lives and families but also poses a serious threat to national security by funding terror activities.

Manoj Sinha reiterated the administration’s commitment to dismantling the entire ecosystem of drug trafficking. He emphasized a three-pronged strategy focusing on disrupting the supply chain, spreading mass awareness, and ensuring proper treatment and rehabilitation for those affected by addiction.

“The fight against drugs cannot be won by enforcement agencies alone. It requires active participation from society, including parents, teachers, community leaders, and the youth themselves,” he said, urging people to come forward and support the movement.

The campaign aims to intensify ground-level action through awareness drives, padyatras, and community engagement programs across Jammu & Kashmir. Officials noted that coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies and civil society are key to achieving a drug-free region.

The Lieutenant Governor also called upon educational institutions to play a proactive role in sensitizing students about the harmful effects of drugs and to encourage a healthy, disciplined lifestyle.

The initiative is part of the broader vision of building a #NashaMuktJK, ensuring a safe and secure future for the younger generation. With strong public participation and firm administrative action, the campaign seeks to curb both drug abuse and its links to terror networks in the region.
