Ganderbal, July 20, 2025: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha visited the Baltal Base Camp in Ganderbal district to assess the ongoing arrangements for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025, ensuring a safe and seamless pilgrimage for devotees. The annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine, which commenced on July 3 and will conclude on August 9, has seen significant upgrades to facilitate a hassle-free experience for pilgrims.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor chaired a high-level meeting with the Camp Director, officials from the District Administration, J&K Police, security agencies, and the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB). The discussions focused on measures to ensure smooth pilgrim movement, robust security, and the availability of essential services. Key areas reviewed included mud-slide preventive measures, healthcare facilities, sanitation, water and power supply, traffic management, connectivity, on-spot registration, and food arrangements.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha personally interacted with pilgrims and service providers to gather firsthand feedback on the facilities provided. Pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, commending the proactive approach of the administration. The Lieutenant Governor also inspected the Base Camp Hospital at Baltal, engaging with doctors and medical staff to evaluate the healthcare infrastructure, including the availability of emergency medicines and oxygen supplies.
Emphasizing pilgrim safety, Sinha directed officials to strengthen preparedness and response mechanisms to address potential challenges, including weather vagaries and vulnerabilities along the Baltal route. He lauded the coordinated efforts of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, J&K Police, security forces, and other stakeholder departments for their dedication to ensuring a peaceful and spiritually enriching pilgrimage.
The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by key officials, including Shri VK Birdi, IGP Kashmir; Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary, Science & Technology Department; Shri Jatin Kishore, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal; and senior representatives from the SASB, police, and security forces. The visit underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing the pilgrimage experience while prioritising the safety and comfort of devotees.
