Jammu, January 17,2026- Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the two-day National Level Sports Conference in Jammu & Kashmir, aimed at advancing India’s national sports agenda through the exchange of best practices in governance, participation, athlete development and performance excellence.
Addressing sports administrators, coaches, experts and policymakers, the Lieutenant Governor said the Conference will identify actionable strategies to further strengthen the sports ecosystem in the Union Territory. He noted that the deliberations will help prepare a clear roadmap for the effective implementation of the National Sports Policy 2025 and the J&K Sports Policy 2022, while also highlighting measures to shape a resilient and future-ready generation through sports.
LG Manoj Sinha emphasised that sports play a critical role in youth empowerment, discipline and nation-building. “A robust sports system requires transparent governance, grassroots participation, modern infrastructure and scientific athlete development. Jammu & Kashmir has immense sporting potential, and we are committed to nurturing talent from every district,” he said.
The two-day Conference brings together senior officials, sports federations, athletes, coaches and domain experts from across the country to deliberate on key themes, including sports governance reforms, talent identification, inclusive participation, high-performance training models, sports science, and capacity building.
The Lieutenant Governor said that the Government of J&K is focused on aligning UT-level initiatives with national priorities to create sustainable pathways for athletes. He added that policy-driven reforms, public-private partnerships and community engagement are essential to build a competitive and inclusive sports culture in the region.
The National Level Sports Conference is expected to produce practical recommendations and collaborative frameworks that will accelerate the growth of sports in Jammu & Kashmir and contribute meaningfully to India’s long-term sporting excellence.
