Jammu, September 28, 2025: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha addressed the ‘Investors Meet’ organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce in collaboration with ICICI Bank at Basohli, Kathua.
In his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor said that massive infrastructure development and investor-friendly policies have transformed Jammu and Kashmir into “an attractive investment destination of north India.”
Reiterating the Centre’s commitment to accelerating industrial growth in the Union Territory, LG Sinha said, “Industries are crucial for economic growth, generating employment and boosting income. Efforts are being made to extend incentives under the ‘Central Sector Scheme for the Development of Industries’ to further bolster industrial development in J&K. Our focus is inclusive and sustainable growth to ensure benefits reach all sections of society.”
He stressed that the greatest beneficiaries of economic progress should be the poor and rural communities. Highlighting the potential of Basohli, the LG called for a dedicated campaign to create a skilled workforce, improve market linkages for local handicrafts and handloom products, and promote QR coding for Basohli pashmina, paintings, and handicrafts.
Shri Sinha further informed that the Union Ministry of Textiles is considering setting up a sub-centre in Basohli to promote local artisans and traditional crafts. He also underlined the immense opportunities in hospitality and industrial sectors in the region.
The Investors Meet witnessed participation from business leaders, investors, and industry associations across the country.
