Srinagar, November 17,2025: Renowned Kashmiri actor Lalit Parimoo has stressed the urgent need to create space for authentic Kashmir stories that go beyond the long-dominating terror narrative. Speaking at a cultural interaction, Parimoo said the region’s identity must be represented through its people, art, history, and everyday human experiences—not merely conflict.
Parimoo noted that while terrorism has impacted the Valley, it should not overshadow Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage, intellectual tradition, and vast reservoir of untold human stories. He called on filmmakers, writers, and media platforms to highlight narratives of resilience, creativity, spirituality, and progress.
He emphasised that shifting the storytelling lens will not only broaden India’s cultural landscape but also help the world see Kashmir “as a place of beauty, talent and depth, not just turmoil.”
Parimoo’s remarks resonate with ongoing conversations in the creative community about reclaiming Kashmir’s narrative through cinema, literature, and digital media.
