Lakhpati didis and SRLMs to discuss rural prosperity in post-budget webinar

New Delhi, April 3, 2025 — The Ministry of Rural Development is set to host the third instalment of its Post-Budget Consultation Series, focusing on the transformative Rural Prosperity and Resilience Programme. The webinar, scheduled for April 4, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., will be chaired by Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Ministry, and will bring together Lakhpati Didis and State Rural Livelihood Missions to chart a roadmap for sustainable rural development.

This interactive session aims to align the ambitious goals of Budget 2025-26 with grassroots realities, spotlighting the pivotal role of Lakhpati Didis—women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) earning a sustainable annual income of at least ₹1 lakh per household. The consultation will explore strategies to scale up rural enterprises, enhance market linkages, and bolster resilience through innovative livelihood models. Discussions will draw on the success of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), which has empowered millions of rural women by fostering financial independence and entrepreneurship.

Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh is expected to emphasize collaborative partnerships, urging SRLMs to work closely with SHGs and local stakeholders to implement budget announcements effectively. The webinar will also address key challenges, such as access to credit, skill development, and digital infrastructure, while showcasing success stories of Lakhpati Didis who have transformed their communities through micro-enterprises in agriculture, handicrafts, and other sectors.

The Rural Prosperity and Resilience Programme, a cornerstone of the budget, seeks to create robust rural economies by integrating sustainable practices and technology-driven solutions. This consultation will serve as a platform for Lakhpati Didis to share insights, propose solutions, and strengthen the ecosystem of rural livelihoods. SRLMs, tasked with executing these initiatives at the state level, will play a crucial role in translating discussions into actionable outcomes.

As India advances toward its goal of creating three crore Lakhpati Didis, this webinar underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and rural empowerment. The event will be streamed live, encouraging broader participation from rural communities, policymakers, and development partners.
