Kupwara, July 16, 2025: In a significant step toward combating the drug menace, the District Police Kupwara, in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Tangdar, organized a Debate and Quiz Competition on Drug Addiction Awareness at the college auditorium. The event aimed to educate and empower students to take a stand against drug abuse and foster a drug-free society.
The program, held under the supervision of the District Police, saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 students of GDC Tangdar. The competition focused on raising awareness about the devastating effects of drug addiction, including its physical, psychological, and social impacts. Students engaged in thought-provoking debates and quizzes, shedding light on the causes, consequences, and preventive measures of substance abuse.
Key speakers, including police officials and faculty members, emphasized the importance of collective action in eradicating the drug menace. The event highlighted the role of youth in building a healthier society by resisting peer pressure and promoting positive lifestyles. Participants took a pledge to actively fight against drugs, committing to spread awareness and support rehabilitation efforts in their communities.
The program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where top performers in the debate and quiz were awarded cash prizes and appreciation certificates. The initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of District Police Kupwara and GDC Tangdar to engage youth in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a national campaign for a drug-free India.
