Kupwara, October 4,2025: The frontier district of Kupwara is hosting the prestigious General Bipin Rawat Fencing Championship from October 3 to 5, bringing together young athletes from across Jammu and Kashmir to showcase their sporting talent.
The championship, named in honour of the late Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, aims to promote fencing as an emerging sport in the Union Territory and encourage youth participation in competitive athletics.
The event has attracted enthusiastic participation from budding fencers, with matches being held under professional supervision to ensure fair play and adherence to international standards. Officials said the championship not only highlights the growing interest in fencing but also provides a platform for sports talent in Kupwara and other districts to shine at the UT level.
