Kulgam farmers in high altitude getting trained about new technologies

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kulgam supported by Sher-E-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology organised a one-day awareness-cum-training programme for farmers growing crops, medicinal and aromatic plants at higher altitude. The trainers said that this is a very big industry offering lots of livelihood opportunities. We want the farmers to show interest in the subject. In the coming future, this training will help the farmers and youth to secure employment. The programme representatives informed the farmers that if they have a land that is not being utilised for agricultural or horticulture then they can avail the technology which we will transfer to them. We have quite a lot of land here which does not have a water facility. In that case, if the farmers sow these crops on those lands then they can benefit from a good source of income from it. The farmers said they were made aware of new farming technologies. They were also told about the benefits of growing lavender and how the flowers are used in many industries. They found the programme of value and felt the farmers should participate in it.
