Kulgam, April 08, 2025 – The District Administration of Kulgam has accelerated its campaign against drug abuse, intensifying efforts to combat the rising threat through a series of awareness camps held across the district. This initiative, aligned with the “Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan,” seeks to educate residents, particularly the youth, about the perils of substance abuse while promoting a united front to eliminate the drug menace from the region.
The ongoing awareness camps, spanning all 11 blocks of Kulgam, have attracted significant participation from students, local leaders, and community members. These sessions emphasize the health and social consequences of drug addiction, encourage healthier lifestyle choices, and urge citizens to report drug-related activities to authorities. The campaign reflects a heightened response to the increasing incidence of drug abuse and trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir, with Kulgam identified as a critical area requiring immediate action.
District officials have adopted a comprehensive approach, blending awareness with enforcement measures. Recent operations have targeted the destruction of illegal poppy and cannabis crops, while law enforcement has cracked down on drug peddlers.
