Kulgam, March 03, 2025– The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in Kulgam has registered an impressive 11,373 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Rural 2.0 since January 1, 2025, according to the Assistant Commissioner Development , Kulgam. This achievement marks a significant step in providing affordable housing to rural families in the district.
The PMAY-G 2.0 initiative, aimed at ensuring “Housing for All” in rural areas, has seen robust participation in Kulgam, with the department completing the registration process for thousands of eligible households in just two months. The scheme offers financial assistance to construct durable homes, addressing the housing needs of economically weaker sections.
The ACD highlighted the department’s efforts to streamline the registration process, ensuring that deserving families are identified and enrolled efficiently. This milestone reflects the commitment of the local administration to uplift living standards in rural Kulgam.
Officials noted that the survey and registration drive, which began on January 1, 2025, will continue to expand coverage, aligning with the national goal of constructing additional homes under PMAY-G by 2029. The success in Kulgam serves as a model for other districts in the region.
