‘Know Your Artisan’: Kashmir Brings Buyers Closer to Craftsmen in Autumn-Themed Exhibition In the month of October 2025, three day-long editions of ‘Know Your Artisan’ was held in Jammu & Kashmir, said Mussarrat Ul Islam, Director of Handicraft. It is a part of ‘Soulful Kashmir’ which is our brand. We received an overwhelming reponse and our visitors were asked to write their feedback. We took feedback from our artisans as well. We got this feedback response that we must do a longer version of it. Hence, we decided to capture the aesthetics of the autumn fall season of Kashmir in November in Shere-e-Kashmir which lies between Chinar trees. Our sole intention is to introduce the artisan to the buyer. This is the collateral benefit that the artisans are getting. The hardwork that goes behind these crafts, that story we are attempting to tell the people. I am happy and satisfied that we have been successful, said the Handicraft Director. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg said the three-day ‘Know Your Artisan’ initiative is a continuity of their previous initiatives. Last month in Lal Chowk, a similar ambience was created by our artisans. Today we are taking it to the next scale and a beginning has been made. I would like to invite the locals and tourists and everyone in Kashmir to visit the three-day exhibition. There are many local crafts and handicrafts, around 15 of which are GI tagged. Our awardee craftsmen and Padma Shree Awardees are also present in the exhibition. We can also get acquainted with their skills and can definitely take some local Kashmiri unique products to our homes, said the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, spaeking in praise of ‘Know Your Artisan’ exhibition.
