Kathua launches women’s week celebrations

Kathua, March 2,2026- The Kathua district administration has commenced week-long celebrations of Women’s Week from March 2 to March 8, aimed at promoting women empowerment and recognising the invaluable contributions of women in society.

The event was formally inaugurated at Government Degree College for Women Kathua by District Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishwajeet Singh and District Social Welfare Officer Varun Chaudhary.

Focus on Women Empowerment

Addressing the gathering, the District Commissioner highlighted the vital role women play in nation-building and emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities, safety, and empowerment for women across the district.

He underscored the importance of education, skill development, and awareness initiatives in strengthening women’s participation in social and economic spheres.

Week-Long Activities Planned

The Women’s Week celebrations will feature a series of awareness drives, cultural programs, interactive sessions, and workshops focusing on health, education, financial literacy, and legal rights. Various departments are collaborating to make the campaign impactful and inclusive.

Officials reiterated that the initiative aligns with the broader vision of empowering women at the grassroots level and fostering gender equality in Kathua district.
