Kathua, March 3,2026- A spirited walkathon was organized in Kathua to promote the messages of #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao and #BetaBetiEkSaman, reinforcing the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment in society.
The event was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma from the DC Office complex. Participants, including students, officials, and members of civil society, marched up to Shaheedi Chowk, raising slogans advocating equal rights, dignity, and opportunities for girls and women.
Addressing the gathering, DC Rajesh Sharma emphasized that empowering girls through education and ensuring equal opportunities are essential for building a progressive society. He highlighted that initiatives like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao aim to address gender discrimination, improve child sex ratio, and promote education for the girl child.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation, with placards and banners carrying messages on women’s rights, equal status for sons and daughters, and the need to eliminate social biases. Organizers reiterated that achieving gender equality requires collective efforts from families, institutions, and the administration.
The walkathon concluded at Shaheedi Chowk, where participants pledged to support the cause of girl child education and work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society in Kathua district.
