Srinagar, November 23,2025 – In the heart of the Valley, a new wave of entrepreneurship is emerging, driven by Kashmir’s young women. From handicrafts and handlooms to tech startups and sustainable ventures, these determined women are breaking barriers and redefining success.
Despite social and economic challenges, Kashmiri women entrepreneurs are turning their small beginnings into thriving businesses. With access to digital platforms, government schemes, and mentorship programs, many are now creating products and services that reach markets across India and even overseas.
One inspiring story is of 25-year-old Aaliya Bhat, who started a handmade jewelry brand from her home in Srinagar. Today, her brand exports to multiple countries, showcasing Kashmir’s rich craftsmanship to the world. Similarly, women-led startups in areas like organic farming, eco-friendly products, and IT solutions are gaining visibility and generating employment in local communities.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has frequently emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment in Jammu & Kashmir, noting that initiatives supporting skill development, financial assistance, and startup incubation are helping women turn their ideas into reality.
Experts say that empowering women entrepreneurs not only fosters economic growth but also strengthens social resilience in the region.
