Kashmiri mother of two kids tops Class 10 Boards

In Jammu & Kashmir, a married woman Sabina with two small children sets an example by topping class 10th board exams.

I am very happy, says Sabina, a resident of Kupwara district. She studied for her 10th exam while looking after the house and tending to her two small school going children. I would like to join the Police so that I can support women, says Sabina. Women are oppressed and face torture and I would like to help women. I would like women to be strong and independent, Sabina says.

Rafika Begum, Sabina’s Mother-in-Law says, she has only one son and she treats her daughter-in-law sweetly like her own daughter. Sabina was eager to get educated so I fully supported her. After the declaration of results, we are very happy to see her success. She wants to join the Police and we will support her wish, says Sabina’s mother-in-law. She also appealed to all the Kashmiri ladies not to differentiate between daughters and daughter-in-law. Also, to allow them to follow their dreams.

Sabina’s message to all women: Follow your dreams without fear. You too can achieve what I achieved.
