Srinagar, April 11, 2025 – The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has forecast an improvement in weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir starting April 12, following a spell of light rain, snow, and gusty winds. The wet weather, which has affected the region since April 9, is expected to subside, ushering in a dry and stable period through April 17.
According to MeT officials, the region experienced intermittent light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, with snowfall in higher reaches like Gulmarg, Kupwara, and Pahalgam. On April 11, cloudy skies persisted with scattered showers and gusty winds at some locations. However, conditions are predicted to clear up from the morning of April 12, offering better visibility and improved travel conditions for residents and tourists.
The forecast indicates dry weather from April 12 to 17, providing a respite from the recent precipitation. A fresh western disturbance is expected to bring light to moderate rain and snow to higher altitudes from April 18 to 20, potentially affecting travel plans in hilly areas.
Tourists and locals are advised to stay updated on local forecasts, particularly for high-altitude destinations, as the region transitions into this clearer phase. The MeT’s announcement comes as a relief for those impacted by the recent wet spell, which temporarily disrupted vehicular movement on routes like the Bandipora-Gurez road.
