Srinagar, April 9, 2025 – The University of Kashmir campus in Srinagar transformed into a vibrant celebration of creativity and tradition as it hosted the Lok Samvardhan Parv 3.0, a grand event spotlighting art, heritage, and cultural legacy. Running from April 5 to April 13, the festival, held at the Convocation Ground, has brought together local artisans, artists, and students to showcase the rich tapestry of Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural identity.
Organized by the Ministry of Minority Affairs in collaboration with the University of Kashmir, the Lok Samvardhan Parv offers a dynamic platform featuring live demonstrations, handicraft exhibitions, and special sessions. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the event has drawn crowds eager to experience the region’s artistic brilliance firsthand. From intricate Kashmiri crafts to soulful performances, the campus has become a living gallery of heritage and innovation.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who attended the cultural extravaganza earlier this week, praised its significance. “This initiative is a window into our rich cultural diversity, handicrafts, and traditions. It’s an opportunity to celebrate what makes Jammu and Kashmir unique,” he remarked, urging support for such efforts to preserve and promote the region’s legacy. His presence underscored the government’s commitment to fostering craftsmanship and heritage as vital pillars of the Union Territory’s identity.
The festival’s theme, ‘Bhagidari se Bhagyodaya’ (Participation to Prosperity), resonates deeply as local talent takes center stage. Visitors have marveled at displays of traditional Kashmiri art, including papier-mâché, woodwork, and embroidery, alongside performances that echo the Valley’s storied past. Vice Chancellor Professor Nilofer Khan highlighted the university’s role, stating, “This is more than an event—it’s a bridge connecting our youth to their roots while showcasing their potential.”
The art and heritage focus has not only captivated attendees but also sparked conversations about sustainable cultural preservation. With dignitaries like Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Minister of State George Kurien gracing the inauguration, the event signals a renewed emphasis on integrating Jammu and Kashmir’s heritage into the national narrative.
As the Kashmir University campus buzzes with activity, Lok Samvardhan Parv 3.0 stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Valley—a blend of tradition and aspiration, alive in every craft, song, and story shared.
