Kashmir,November 23,2025- : In a fresh push to revive its long-standing cinematic connection, Jammu & Kashmir showcased its film-friendly destinations and policies at the Goa International Film Festival (IFFI 2024), aiming to bring Bollywood back to the Valley. The promotional campaign titled “Kashmir Goes to Goa” highlighted the region’s landscapes, improved infrastructure, and streamlined film-shoot permissions to attract major production houses.
Officials from the J&K Tourism Department, Jammu & Kashmir Film Development Council (JKFDC), and local filmmakers engaged with directors, producers, OTT representatives, and film associations during a series of business sessions and networking events in Goa. The team presented Kashmir as a revitalised, secure, and cinema-ready destination.
According to officials, Kashmir has witnessed a significant rise in film shoots over the past few years, with production teams choosing locations like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Srinagar, Pahalgam, Kupwara, and Gurez for feature films, ad shoots, documentaries, and OTT content. The objective of the Goa showcase was to expand this momentum and re-establish Kashmir as a premier shooting location for the Indian film industry.
Filmmakers at IFFI responded positively, noting that Kashmir’s natural beauty—combined with the government’s updated film policy, financial incentives, and single-window clearance system—makes it a compelling choice for future film projects. Industry leaders also praised the Valley’s renewed cinematic ecosystem, growing talent pool, and improved logistics for large-scale shoots.
Officials highlighted that bringing Bollywood back in a big way would boost tourism, generate local employment, revive Kashmir’s film-linked economy, and enhance global visibility of the region’s cultural heritage.
With the “Kashmir Goes to Goa” initiative receiving encouraging feedback, the Jammu & Kashmir government expects a surge in shooting requests in the coming months, strengthening its mission to restore the Valley’s historic relationship with Indian cinema.
