Kashmir prepped for Ramadan, says divisional commissioner,Kashmir

Srinagar, February 27, 2025 – The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, announced today that all arrangements are in place ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking to the press, divisional commissioner Kashmir assured residents that the administration is fully prepared to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for the public during this significant period. A high-level meeting is scheduled for February 28 to finalise these preparations, addressing key concerns such as power and water supply, as well as the availability of essential commodities.

Recent efforts have focused on stabilising the region’s power infrastructure, with officials noting that 90% of supply lines remain operational despite challenges posed by inclement weather.

He emphasised that measures are in place to prevent unscheduled power cuts, a recurring issue that has drawn public attention.

Earlier this week, on February 24, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed arrangements for both Ramadan and Mahashivratri, directing Deputy Commissioners across the valley to prioritize uninterrupted essential services.

The administration’s proactive stance comes amidst a forecast of continued weather fluctuations, underscoring their commitment to supporting the community through robust planning and coordination. Residents can expect further updates following tomorrow’s meeting as final details are confirmed.
