Justice Arun Palli sworn in as chief justice of J&K and Ladakh high court

Jammu, April 16, 2025: Justice Arun Palli was administered the oath as Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at a ceremony held at the Convention Centre in Jammu. The event was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, judges of the High Court, members of the subordinate judiciary, and other dignitaries.

Justice Palli, previously a judge at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was appointed as Chief Justice following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium and notification by the Ministry of Law and Justice on April 12, 2025. His appointment marks a significant transition for the High Court, which has recently seen the retirement of Justice Tashi Rabstan.

The oath-taking ceremony was a formal affair, with Justice Palli subscribing to the oath of office before the Lieutenant Governor. The presence of prominent figures, including the Chief Minister and judicial officers, underscored the importance of the event for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
