Jammu, April 22, 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation , under the leadership of Managing Director Sh. Sudarshan Kumar, successfully conducted a District-Level RAMP Awareness Workshop at Udyog Bhawan, Jammu, on April 21, 2025. Organised in collaboration with Grant Thornton Bharat LLP and the District Industries Centre Jammu, the event drew over 50 participants, including MSME entrepreneurs, industry associations, and key stakeholders, to strengthen the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance initiative.
The workshop, chaired by Joint Director , Industries and Commerce, Jammu, Ashok Kumar, marked the third in a series of district-level outreach programs aimed at enhancing MSME awareness, capacity building, and growth. The RAMP scheme, a flagship program by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, supported by the World Bank, focuses on formalising MSMEs, improving market access, and fostering innovation. JKTPO, as the nodal agency under the Industries and Commerce Department, is driving the scheme’s implementation across the Union Territory.
Sh. Sudarshan Kumar, Managing Director of JKTPO, highlighted the transformative potential of RAMP, stating, “Under the guidance of Sh. Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce, JKTPO is committed to revolutionising the MSME landscape in Jammu and Kashmir. RAMP is a game-changer, empowering entrepreneurs to drive innovation and economic growth.” The SPIU team delivered a comprehensive presentation, outlining key RAMP interventions, including Udyam Registration for MSME formalisation, promotion of GI-tagged and ODOP products, cluster development through producer associations, and the establishment of the J&K MSMEs Health Clinic. Additional initiatives like Buyer-Seller Meets , Reverse Buyer-Seller Meets , and entrepreneurship and skill development programs were also emphasised.
The event saw active engagement from diverse stakeholders, including representatives from Handloom and Handicrafts, NABARD, Labour & Employment, Government Polytechnic Jammu, and Cooperative Societies. SPIU consultants and DIC Jammu officials addressed participant queries, reinforcing the J&K Government’s commitment to grassroots-level implementation. The workshop also highlighted the recent launch of Management Development Programmes by JKEDI across 15 districts since April 15, 2025, engaging over 300 participants to bolster entrepreneurial skills.
With a dedicated budget of ₹74.03 crore for J&K under RAMP, including ₹66.63 crore from the Central Government, the initiative is poised to enhance productivity, digital financing, and market linkages for MSMEs. JKTPO’s ongoing efforts, including formalisation drives in districts like Baramulla and Pulwama, underscore its mission to create a vibrant, inclusive MSME sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
