J&K’s Towseef Ahmad Balances Job and UPSC Prep to Achieve IAS Dream Towseef Ahmad Ganie from Puchal village in Pulwama district has indeed achieved a remarkable milestone by qualifying for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) through the UPSC Civil Services Examination, securing Rank 254. This makes him the first IAS officer from Pulwama district, marking a historic and proud moment for the region, especially South Kashmir. Coming from a humble background as the son of a labourer, his success story highlights extraordinary dedication, perseverance, and hard work despite financial challenges and limited resources. It’s inspiring countless youth in Pulwama and beyond, showing that determination can overcome barriers and lead to such prestigious accomplishments I started the IAS journey during my college days when I was studying in Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Shuhama, Ganderbal, Jammu & Kashmir. I completed my basic syllabus of Civil Services during the college days only, said Towseef Ahmad IAS Qualifier. After that, I moved to Delhi for 7-8 months to prepare there but then a vacancy for a Veterinary Surgeon had come up and I applied and got selected. I was fortunate enough and I had to join my duties in District Poonch. Along with my duties, I continued preparing for Civil Services exam. During my third attempt, I qualified for the Civil Services, said Towseef Ahmad . There are a lot of challenges that you face, said the IAS Qualifier. It is a long journey. Its not only about friends. Its about your emotions. My father is my real inspiration. He is my motivation and he motivated me to continue this journey.
