J&K’s slain SPO Mudasir Ahmad honoured with Shaurya Chakra

On 25th May 2022, in Jammu & Kashmir’s Baramulla, Constable Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh became part of a joint operation launched on the basis of information of the presence of three terrorists armed with killer ammunition. Taking prompt action, Constable Mudasir identified the suspect vehicle and raided it. Constable Mudasir dragged one terrorist out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, one other terrorist started heavy firing due to which he was seriously injured. Despite being seriously injured, not caring for his own skin, Constable Mudasir battled through dire circumstances. With his accurate firepower he gunned down one terrorist. Showing outstanding bravery, battle style, exemplifying effective leadership, Constable Mudasir surrendered himself for the nation on May 25, 2022. Late Constable Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh’s mother Shameema Begum and father Mohammad Maqsood Sheikh received Shaurya Chakra Award posthumously conferred on their son by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. Late Constable Mudasir’s father said that his son’s life was spent in saving Kashmir and the nation. He said and hoped that Kashmir and the whole nation stands by him just as his son stood by losing his life for the nation. He sent this message that ‘Bindaas’ as his son was popularly nicknamed is an example to all the youth in Jammu & Kashmir and elsewhere. The youth should stop harmful activities and be a role model for India just like Constable Mudasir.
