J&K’s Kokernag Becomes Centre of Excellence in Tulip Bulb Production, Aims for Mass-Scale Farming Mountain Crop Research Station (MCRS) Sagam, Kokernag, Jammu & Kashmir is now renamed as Centre of Excellence in Tulip Bulb Production. Dr Mahmood at the Centre of Excellence in Tulip Bulb Production said the main goal of the station is tulip multiplication. In collaboration with SKUAST Kashmir and Department of Floriculture, J&K the officials thought that importing tulip bulbs in mass scale was proving costly so decided to cultivate and grow home-bred tulips. We did an experiment on 5 Kanals and by the grace of Allah tulip bulbs grew profusely as you can see in the video. Now this year we will extend the tulip cultivation in a larger area. The topography and the soil here are helping the tulips grow successfully. The thougjht process is to produce extra and supply outside. At present thare are 30-40 varieties of tulips grown here, informed the official at the Kokernag Centre of Excellence in Tulip Bulb Production in Jammu & Kashmir.
