Kashmir, June 10,2026- Highlighting the transformation witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade, BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Monday said the Union Territory, once associated with stone-pelting incidents, is today being recognized for its sporting achievements, including its historic success in the Ranji Trophy.
Addressing a press conference at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi ahead of the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre, Nabin said Jammu and Kashmir’s emergence as a Ranji Trophy champion symbolizes the changing aspirations of its youth and the impact of development-oriented governance.
“Jammu and Kashmir, where youth were once known for stone pelting, has now become a Ranji Trophy champion. Government policies have transformed the mindset of young people, who are now becoming partners in India’s growth story,” Nabin said.
The BJP chief asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government has maintained a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and has fundamentally changed India’s approach to dealing with terror-related challenges. He said the country’s strong stance against terrorism has earned global recognition and enhanced national security.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Nabin said the operation demonstrated India’s resolve to take decisive action against terrorism and countries supporting terror activities. He described it as a clear message that India would respond firmly to any threat posed by forces of terror.
Highlighting the broader transformation in Jammu and Kashmir, Nabin said the region has witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, sports, education, tourism, and youth empowerment. He noted that young people who were once vulnerable to unrest are now excelling in sports, entrepreneurship, and various developmental sectors.
He also cited the abrogation of Article 370 as a historic step that opened new avenues for growth and integration, while emphasizing that development initiatives have helped create opportunities for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking about the achievements of the Modi Government over the past 12 years, Nabin said the administration has focused on welfare-driven development, transparency, digital governance, and infrastructure expansion. He highlighted flagship schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Direct Benefit Transfer as transformative initiatives that have improved the lives of millions.
The BJP president further pointed to the rapid expansion of highways, railways, airports, digital connectivity, and healthcare infrastructure across the country. He said these efforts have strengthened India’s economic growth and accelerated progress towards the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Nabin also underlined India’s growing global stature, citing the country’s successful G20 Presidency and increasing role in international affairs. According to him, India today enjoys greater confidence, stronger diplomatic influence, and enhanced economic prospects under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
As the NDA Government completes 12 years in office, Nabin said Jammu and Kashmir’s rise from a region often associated with unrest to one celebrated for sporting excellence and youth achievements stands as a powerful example of India’s ongoing transformation.
For many, he added, the image of Jammu and Kashmir lifting the Ranji Trophy is not just a sporting milestone but a symbol of hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for the region’s youth.
