J&K’s Azim Ahmad Bhat Qualifies for Paralympics: India’s Para Shooting Champion Speaks! I recently qualified for the Paralympics in the Paralympics stream, which happens every four years, said Indian Para Shooter, Azim Ahmad Bhat from Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir. The Paralympic Games or Paralympics is a periodic series of international multisport events involving athletes with a range of disabilities. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, have been held shortly after the corresponding Olympic Games. Before this qualification, I am also a World Champion, Asian Games and World Cup medalist, said Para Shooter Azim Ahmad Bhat. Presently, I have received a selection letter from the Paralympics Committee of India and I have been selected in it. The trials for Paralympics were held in Delhi from May 12 to May 20. I qualified second in those trials. I want to tell you that in every event in the Olympics, two participants are appointed from each country. From India, in shooting category, I am one of the participants appointed along with another shooter belonging to Rajasthan. I want to thank my parents, brothers and the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, my coach, the Indian Army and my country. I respect them from my heart and thank them all, said the para shooter from J&K’s Anantnag. Giving his message to the youth in J&K, Azim Ahmad Bhat said that they have immense potential and can one day become shooters. My message is to come and make your mark in the world of shooting. God is with you and you will get full support from Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council also. You will also get good coaches and full assistance. And you can also represent your Union Territory and your country, said the para shooter from J&K.
