Shopian, March 26, 2025 – In a significant initiative to support women’s health, the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission under the UMEED scheme, in collaboration with AYUSH Shopian, organised a free medical camp for the Self-Help Group women members in Shopian district. The event, held on March 25, 2025, aimed to provide essential healthcare services and raise awareness among local women about maintaining their health.
The medical camp offered free consultations, diagnostic tests, and medical advice, focusing on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and common health issues faced by women. A team of qualified medical professionals from the AYUSH department, including doctors specialising in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, provided personalized care to the women, ensuring they receive comprehensive medical support.
Speaking at the event, a representative from UMEED expressed the importance of such initiatives, stating, “We are committed to empowering women through both livelihood opportunities and healthcare. Our aim is to provide holistic support to women in the region, ensuring they are not only financially independent but also healthy and informed.”
The camp was attended by numerous women from various Self-Help Groups , who benefited from the healthcare services offered. In addition to the medical check-ups, women were also provided with informational materials on maintaining overall health and well-being.
The collaboration between UMEED and AYUSH Shopian reflects the continued efforts by the government to support women’s health and empower them within their communities. Officials are hopeful that such initiatives will improve healthcare access for rural women and raise awareness about the importance of preventive healthcare in the region.
