SRINAGAR, April 29, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute has successfully concluded a 6-day Management Development Program (MDP) at its Srinagar District Centre, advancing the goals of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance scheme. Supported by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and the World Bank, this initiative strengthens the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises sector, fostering entrepreneurship and economic resilience in Jammu and Kashmir.
The 30-hour training, held at JKEDI’s Srinagar facility, empowered local entrepreneurs with essential skills in financial literacy, digital marketing, business management, and access to government schemes like Udyam Registration. Expert trainers and JKEDI faculty delivered engaging sessions, including workshops and practical case studies, designed to address the unique challenges faced by MSMEs in the region. The program aimed to boost innovation, market competitiveness, and sustainable growth.
Implemented under the J&K Industries and Commerce Department, with the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation as the nodal agency, the RAMP scheme promotes MSME formalisation, digital financing, and initiatives like Geographical Indication tagging and One District One Product . The Srinagar MDP contributes to JKEDI’s target of delivering 334 MDPs to 6,672 MSME beneficiaries by 2027, backed by a Rs. 4.17 crore budget.
“The Srinagar MDP is a cornerstone of our mission to build a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said JKEDI Director Khalid Jahangir. “By equipping MSMEs with modern tools, we’re driving economic empowerment.” The program’s timing is significant, supporting recovery efforts following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which impacted local businesses and tourism.
Participants hailed the training’s impact. “Learning about digital platforms and financial strategies has transformed my approach to business,” said a Srinagar entrepreneur. Social media posts on X echoed this sentiment, highlighting the program’s role in fostering resilience and innovation among MSMEs.
With more MDPs planned across the Union Territory, JKEDI’s Srinagar initiative sets a strong foundation for economic growth, empowering entrepreneurs to navigate challenges and contribute to Jammu and Kashmir’s development.
