Baramulla, May 20, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute , Baramulla, officially launched a four-week Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme today at the Industrial Training Institute , Baramulla, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative, a World Bank-supported scheme aimed at empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India. The program is designed to equip participants with essential managerial, financial, and strategic skills to establish and scale their business operations, fostering entrepreneurship and economic growth in the region.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including the Principal of ITI Baramulla, who emphasized the critical role of skill development and vocational training in addressing unemployment and promoting a self-reliant economy. The District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Baramulla, highlighted that the ESDP is tailored to address regional entrepreneurial challenges, encouraging participants to leverage innovative solutions and advanced technologies to build sustainable businesses.
The RAMP initiative, implemented by JKEDI in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) and the Industries and Commerce Department, focuses on strengthening the MSME ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. This ESDP aims to empower aspiring entrepreneurs and local youth by providing hands-on training in business management, financial planning, and strategic decision-making, enabling them to contribute to the region’s economic development.
Participants, including students and local MSME representatives, expressed enthusiasm for the program, which is expected to bridge the gap between skill acquisition and practical business application. The initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, to enhance competitiveness and create sustainable enterprises in the Union Territory.
JKEDI’s efforts under the RAMP scheme also include other components such as Management Development Programmes (MDPs), buyer-seller meets, and the establishment of MSME Health Clinics, all aimed at fostering a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
