Jammu, Feburary 2,2026-The Union Budget presented by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government has received a largely positive response across the country, including in Jammu and Kashmir, with people terming it development-oriented and inclusive.
Residents from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the budget, saying it focuses on key sections of society such as the poor, farmers, youth and the middle class. Many expressed hope that the measures announced will accelerate economic growth and improve livelihoods in the Union Territory.
Local traders and business representatives said the budget reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the economy while ensuring social welfare. “The emphasis on infrastructure, employment generation and support to small businesses will help boost local economic activity in Jammu and Kashmir,” they said.
Farmers in the region also reacted positively, noting that continued focus on agriculture, allied sectors and rural development would benefit those dependent on farming and horticulture. Youth representatives said provisions related to skill development, education and startups could open new avenues for employment and entrepreneurship.
Members of the middle class welcomed relief-oriented measures, stating that steps aimed at easing financial pressure would help households manage rising costs more effectively.
