Kashmir, April 26,2026- Jammu and Kashmir is set to host its first international film festival, marking a major milestone for the Union Territory’s cultural and creative landscape.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo has directed officials to ensure world-class preparations for the event, which is being coordinated through the Department of Information & Public Relations.
Officials said the festival will be held after the annual Amarnath Yatra, with screenings planned across multiple iconic locations including Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Bhaderwah, and Jammu.
The initiative aims to position Jammu and Kashmir as a global destination for cinema, culture, and tourism, attracting filmmakers from across the world. The festival is expected to showcase the region’s scenic beauty, heritage, and diverse storytelling potential on an international platform.
During the review, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure high-quality infrastructure, logistics, and hospitality arrangements for participants and visitors.
The event is also expected to generate opportunities for local artists, technicians, and tourism stakeholders, contributing to the growth of the creative economy in the region.
With preparations underway, the international film festival is seen as a significant step toward strengthening Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural identity and global cinematic presence.
