Jammu, August 1, 2025 – The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, in collaboration with Hockey J&K, has announced selection trials for the Girls Sub-Junior National Hockey Championship, scheduled for August 4, 2025, at K.K. Hakku Stadium in Jammu. The trials aim to select a talented squad to represent J&K at the 15th All India Sub-Junior National Hockey Championship, set to take place in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from August 28 to September 8, 2025.
The trials are open to eligible sub-junior female players registered with Hockey India. Participants must bring valid ID proof, such as an Aadhaar Card, and report to the venue in proper sports kit by 9:00 AM. Only players meeting Hockey India’s age and eligibility criteria will be allowed to participate. The selection process will focus on identifying skilled athletes capable of competing at the national level, with selectors emphasizing fitness, technique, and teamwork.
A spokesperson for Hockey J&K stated, “These trials are a critical step in building a competitive team to showcase J&K’s hockey talent on a national stage. We encourage all eligible players to participate and give their best.” The initiative reflects J&K’s growing commitment to fostering sports, particularly among young women, as part of a broader effort to promote athletic excellence in the region.
The selected team will undergo rigorous training to prepare for the championship, with support from Hockey J&K and the Sports Council. This event follows recent efforts to strengthen the sports ecosystem in J&K, including programs like the J&K Startup Policy and initiatives by the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI).
