Srinagar, December 17: Jammu and Kashmir students have achieved remarkable success at the National Level Eco Hackathon held at the NDMC Convention Centre, Delhi, bringing further pride to the Department of School Education, J&K.
Two students from J&K excelled in the competition, securing the top two positions in the Eco-Creativity & Innovation Hackathon. Humaira Showkat from HSS Danow Kulgam won the 1st prize, while Sheikh Anzar from HSS Fatehgarh Baramulla claimed the 2nd prize.
Among districts, Pulwama, Samba, Budgam, and Udhampur emerged as the top performers in Jammu and Kashmir, while students from Baramulla, Kulgam, and Kupwara were recognized for their novel and innovative ideas.
Jammu and Kashmir was also honoured for ranking among the top 5 contributing states/UTs nationwide.
The Eco Creativity and Innovation Hackathon, an initiative by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in collaboration with Amazon Future Engineer and Pi Jam Foundation, was launched on World Environment Day, June 5, 2024.
The nationwide event showcased 35 top ideas selected from over 6.9 lakh participants, with key dignitaries including the Secretary of Environment (MoEFCC), Secretary of Education (GoI), and other distinguished guests.
Dr. G.N. Itoo, Director School Education Kashmir, congratulated the students on their outstanding achievements. He emphasized, “We are committed to improving the standards of education in Jammu and Kashmir and creating an innovative ecosystem in our schools to empower our students to become job providers rather than job seekers.”
