Srinagar, November 6 ,2025: The Jammu & Kashmir Government has approved the “Chief Minister’s Scheme for Introduction of Heritage Courses” under the Skill Development Department. The initiative aims to revive traditional craft courses and provide skill-based livelihood opportunities for youth in the Union Territory.
The scheme will reintroduce 7 traditional craft courses across 25 units in Government ITIs and Polytechnics, with an intake capacity of 500 students. Trainees will receive stipends, while instructors will be offered honorarium, ensuring both learning and teaching are encouraged.
Officials said the initiative is a significant step towards preserving J&K’s rich cultural heritage while promoting employment and entrepreneurship in traditional crafts. The courses will empower youth with skills that are not only culturally significant but also economically viable.
