Kashmir, February 16,2026- In a significant move to boost tourism and restore normalcy, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered the reopening of several major tourist destinations across the Kashmir and Jammu Divisions. The sites had been temporarily closed as precautionary measures, and the decision follows a thorough security review and detailed discussions.
Officials said the reopening is aimed at strengthening public confidence, promoting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, and supporting thousands of livelihoods dependent on the hospitality and travel sectors.
Tourist Spots Reopened Immediately in Jammu Division
Three destinations in the Jammu Division have been reopened with immediate effect:
- Devi Pindi (Reasi)
- Mahu Mangat (Ramban)
- Mughal Maidan (Kishtwar)
These locations are known for their scenic beauty and religious significance and are expected to witness increased tourist footfall.
11 Tourist Spots Reopened Immediately in Kashmir Division
In the Kashmir Division, eleven popular tourist destinations have also been reopened:
- Yousmarg
- Doodhpathri
- Dandipora Park
- Peer Ki Gali
- Dubjan
- Padpawan
- Astanpora
- Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden
- Thajwas Glacier
- Hung Park
- Wullar Lake / Watlab
Officials confirmed that these sites have undergone security assessments and necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure visitor safety.
Destinations to Reopen After Snow Clearance
Authorities further stated that the following tourist spots will be reopened once snow clearance operations and safety inspections are completed:
Kashmir Division:
- Gurez Valley
- Athwatoo
- Bangus Valley
Jammu Division:
- Ramkund
The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring a secure environment for tourists while promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a premier travel destination.
