J&K Raj Bhavan hosts Himachal Diwas celebrations, led by J&K LG Manoj Sinha

Jammu, April 15, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir Raj Bhavan hosted vibrant celebrations marking Himachal Diwas, a tribute to the rich legacy of Himachal Pradesh, fondly known as Devbhoomi. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led the event, extending heartfelt greetings to the people of Himachal and lauding the state’s natural splendor, spiritual depth, and cultural vibrancy.

“This Devbhoomi is blessed by nature, a rich spiritual and cultural heritage, and vibrant traditions,” said LG Sinha during the ceremony at Raj Bhavan. “I pray that the aspirations of the people of this state are fulfilled and that Himachal continues to strengthen the nation’s growth.” His words underscored the shared bonds between J&K and Himachal, both Himalayan regions known for their scenic beauty and resilient communities.

The event, held in Jammu, brought together officials, community leaders, and residents, showcasing Himachal’s contributions to India’s tapestry through performances and displays highlighting its traditions. From the sacred shrines of Chamba to the apple orchards of Shimla, Himachal’s identity as a land of spiritual and economic vitality was celebrated with pride.

LG Sinha emphasized Himachal’s role in sustainable development, noting its strides in renewable energy, tourism, and organic farming as models for the nation. He also highlighted the importance of cultural exchanges between states, with J&K and Himachal sharing a commitment to preserving heritage while embracing progress. “Such celebrations strengthen our unity and remind us of our shared goals for a Viksit Bharat,” he added.

Himachal Diwas, observed annually, marks the formation of Himachal Pradesh as a full-fledged state in 1971. The state’s journey from a Union Territory to a hub of tourism and hydropower has inspired regions like J&K, which continues to deepen ties with its neighbor through initiatives in trade, tourism, and environmental conservation.

The Raj Bhavan’s gesture reflects its tradition of fostering interstate harmony, having previously hosted events like Bihar Diwas. Attendees praised the inclusive spirit of the celebration, with one guest noting, “It’s heartwarming to see Himachal’s culture honored here, reminding us how connected our Himalayan states are.”

As the evening concluded with folk music and tributes to Himachal’s heroes, LG Sinha reiterated his vision for a prosperous future. “May Himachal’s people thrive, and may their contributions continue to elevate India’s growth story,” he said, encapsulating the spirit of unity and aspiration that defined the day.
