SRINAGAR, April 23, 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Radio Taxi Association announced on Wednesday that it will provide free transportation services to tourists stranded in the region following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. The attack, which occurred on Tuesday in Baisaran meadows, Anantnag district, killed 26 people, mostly tourists, and injured several others, prompting widespread concern for visitor safety in the Valley.
The association, responding to the crisis, aims to assist tourists in reaching airports, railway stations, or other safe destinations within Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative has been widely praised as a gesture of solidarity and support for visitors shaken by the tragedy. “We want to ensure tourists feel safe and supported during this difficult time,” said a spokesperson for the association. The service is expected to continue until normalcy is restored in the region.
The Pahalgam attack, claimed by The Resistance Front, has led to a Kashmir-wide shutdown and heightened security measures. Authorities, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, have visited victims and assured enhanced safety protocols. The J&K government has also announced financial aid for victims’ families and the injured.
The Radio Taxi Association’s initiative underscores the region’s commitment to hospitality despite the challenges posed by the attack, aiming to restore confidence among tourists.
