Srinagar, October 7, 2025: Mohammad Firdoos, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, has been awarded the distinguished MY Bharat National Service Scheme (NSS) Award 2022-23 in the Volunteer category for his exceptional commitment to social service and community development. The accolade, conferred by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, recognizes his significant contributions to youth empowerment and societal welfare.The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu during a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan on October 6, 2025. Firdoos, an NSS volunteer from the Faculty of Horticulture at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K), was honored for his impactful initiatives, including planting over 2,450 saplings and participating in 14 health camps to support underserved rural communities.Established in 1993-94, the NSS Awards celebrate exemplary voluntary efforts in advancing social welfare and nation-building.
The MY Bharat-NSS programme, initiated in 1969, promotes social responsibility and personal development among youth through community engagement. Firdoos’s recognition, under the mentorship of SKUAST-K’s leadership, underscores the vital role of guided youth in fostering meaningful societal progress, bringing pride to Jammu and Kashmir.
