Srinagar, December 30,2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today chaired the 6th meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Wildlife Board at Lok Bhavan, reviewing key conservation initiatives and policy decisions aimed at strengthening wildlife protection across the UT.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor emphasised the importance of balancing development with environmental conservation, underlining the government’s commitment to preserving Jammu and Kashmir’s rich biodiversity. Several proposals related to wildlife conservation, eco-sensitive zones, habitat protection, and mitigation of human-wildlife conflict were discussed in detail.
The LG directed concerned departments to adopt a scientific and sustainable approach to wildlife management, ensuring strict compliance with environmental norms while facilitating essential infrastructure projects. He also stressed enhancing inter-departmental coordination and community participation for effective implementation of wildlife policies.
Senior officials from the Forest, Ecology & Environment Department, wildlife experts, and members of the UT Wildlife Board attended the meeting and provided updates on ongoing conservation efforts, protection of endangered species, and future action plans.
The meeting reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to promote sustainable development, strengthen wildlife conservation frameworks, and safeguard the ecological heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
