Anantnag, June 29, 2025 – Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha met with family members of Kashmiri civilians killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists at the Government Women’s College in Anantnag, addressing their long-standing grievances and promising comprehensive support. The meeting focused on delivering justice, rehabilitation, and economic empowerment to families who have endured decades of marginalization and suffering due to terrorism in the region.
LG Sinha acknowledged the systemic neglect faced by these families, stating, “For decades, they were marginalised, their voices were not heard, justice was denied, their pain was ignored, their stories untold, and the truth deliberately suppressed.” He emphasized the administration’s commitment to rectifying these injustices and ensuring that the victims’ families are brought into the mainstream of development.

The LG directed family members eligible for government jobs to submit their cases to the respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs), assuring a speedy appointment process within one month. He also promised financial assistance and hand-holding support for those seeking to start their own business ventures, aiming to foster economic independence. Additionally, Sinha committed to addressing unresolved legal issues, including registering FIRs for cases where they were not previously filed and taking action to reclaim land and property encroached by terrorist sympathizers or separatist elements.
The meeting highlighted the administration’s broader efforts to combat the legacy of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Sinha noted that hundreds of families have gained the strength to publicly acknowledge that their loved ones were killed by Pakistani terrorists, a truth he said was buried for years under the pressure of the terror ecosystem. He reaffirmed the Government of India’s resolve to bring the victims’ voices to the forefront and ensure accountability for perpetrators.
This initiative follows Sinha’s recent engagements, including a meeting with civil society organizations, religious leaders, elected representatives, and the trade and business community to discuss preparations for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025. The administration’s focus on both security and socio-economic development reflects its commitment to fostering peace, unity, and prosperity in the region.
The families expressed gratitude for the LG’s outreach, with many sharing their stories of loss and hardship. The administration’s proactive measures, including job opportunities, financial aid, and legal support, aim to address the long-pending demands of these families and restore their faith in the system.
