Srinagar, September 21, 2025 – In a resounding call for collective action, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha emphasised that accelerating the pace of industrial development in Jammu Kashmir and integrating the region with the rest of India remains the topmost priority of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Speaking at the 4th CII Northern Regional Council Meeting here today, LG Sinha urged big companies, corporate houses, and MSMEs across the country to take a solemn pledge, making the rapid industrialization of the Union Territory of J&K their personal responsibility.”The industrial ecosystem of the nation must step forward to support this vital mission,” LG Sinha asserted, highlighting the need for top industrial houses to invest in J&K as a shared duty toward ensuring complete integration and inclusive growth. He commended the vision and outreach of business leaders present, calling upon them to unite in realizing the vision of a Developed India by 2047.
Global Confidence in India: Time for Industry to Accelerate Growth
LG Sinha noted the world’s growing trust in India’s economic trajectory, stating, “Now, it is the industry’s responsibility to rise to the challenge of making our growth processes faster and more competitive.” He stressed the importance of private sector dynamism in sustaining this momentum, particularly through enhanced productivity and exports for MSMEs and fostering an innovation economy.Praising the resilience of J&K’s micro and small industries, which have proven their global competitiveness, the Lieutenant Governor expressed openness to innovative ideas for decentralizing industrialization. “We aim to spread enterprises even at the Panchayat level, empowering local communities,” he added, underscoring how next-generation reforms would bolster MSMEs and handicrafts units in building a self-reliant India.
Push for Private R&D Investment in Key Sectors
A key highlight of LG Sinha’s address was the urgent need for private investment in research and development (R&D), with a special focus on high-impact areas like defense, space, agriculture, and manufacturing. “For a developed India, we must cultivate an innovation economy where growth and wealth are propelled by cutting-edge technologies and novel ideas,” he remarked, envisioning a future where J&K becomes a hub for such advancements.The event saw participation from prominent figures, including Ms. Anjali Singh, Chairperson, CII Northern Region; Dr. M.A. Alim, Chairman, CII J&K; Shri Iqram Shafiee, Vice Chairman, CII J&K; and Shri Puneet Kaura, Deputy Chairman, CII Northern Region.
