Uri, May 9, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha arrived in Uri today to assess the security situation along the Line of Control, following recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan. The visit comes in the wake of intensified shelling incidents in Uri, Kupwara, and Akhnoor on May 2-3, 2025, which have escalated concerns in the border region.
The Lieutenant Governor’s agenda includes meetings with senior officials of the J&K Police, Indian Army, and district administration to evaluate the ground situation and ensure seamless coordination among agencies. Sinha is also focusing on civilian welfare, engaging with local leaders to address the immediate needs of residents affected by the cross-border aggression. “Our priority is the safety and security of every citizen. We stand with our brave soldiers and the people of Uri,” Sinha stated during his visit.
In a show of solidarity,Manoj Sinha met with soldiers stationed in Uri, commending their vigilance and resolve in countering Pakistan’s provocations. The visit underscores the administration’s commitment to restoring peace and bolstering counter-terrorism measures in the Union Territory, especially after the devastating Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which killed 26 people.
Security forces remain on high alert along the LoC, with the Army maintaining robust operational readiness to respond to any further violations. LG Manoj Sinha’s visit is expected to reinforce relief efforts for displaced families and strengthen measures to prevent future incursions.
The Lieutenant Governor’s proactive approach signals a firm stance against cross-border aggression, with a focus on safeguarding both border communities and national security. Further updates on the outcomes of the visit are awaited as the administration continues to monitor the situation closely.
