Jammu, January 12, 2026:Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, on Monday attended the Golden Jubilee celebration of Kesar Art Circle at Kala Kendra Jammu, emphasising the region’s potential to become a global art hub.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said, “From spiritual and cultural roots to new creative horizons, it is our collective responsibility to reimagine Jammu and Kashmir as an art hub. In this endeavour, I hope to see the contribution of painters and writers to build the artistic future of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Shri Sinha felicitated Shri Bhushan Kesar, renowned painter and founder of Kesar Art Circle, praising his role in nurturing and mentoring thousands of artists who have achieved global recognition.
The Lieutenant Governor underlined the importance of preserving sacred heritage as the foundation for shaping the future. “Transforming Jammu Kashmir’s cultural and spiritual soul into a global art hub is a shared responsibility. Art is a bridge to connect diverse cultures and revive our ancient spiritual and cultural legacy,” he said.
Highlighting the role of artists, thinkers, painters, and sculptors as the “conscience of society,” Shri Sinha emphasised that art is not merely entertainment but a powerful force that shapes societal thinking, fosters empathy, and promotes social cohesion.
He urged the youth to harness the power of art for positive societal change. “Art is both a mirror and a guide for society. Youth must embrace art to preserve their cultural identity, remain rooted, and contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat,” the Lieutenant Governor added.
During the event, Shri Sinha inaugurated a painting exhibition and felicitated several prominent artists for their contributions. The celebration was attended by Padma Shri Dr. SP Varma, Shri Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary Culture, Ms. Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director IGNCA, Shri KK Sidha, Director Archives, Ms. Harvinder Kour, Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary Kala Kendra Jammu, senior officials, artists, and citizens.
